BeMS training course

BeMS

The BeMS Scheme is an award-winning business support project that has been designed to help businesses deliver more sustainable profits whilst reducing their environmental impact. It provides a straightforward and low cost approach to environmental management and is an ideal first step for busy managers new to this subject.

Guided by an interactive CD-ROM, companies joining BEMS are helped to systematically assess and reduce the environmental impact of their actions - and realise the associated financial benefits. The CD-ROM has been designed to align closely with the initial stages of nationally recognised management systems such as ISO14001 and EMAS.

Members receive assistance and training from BEMS and its network of experts, enabling them to collect data and set realistic targets to reduce waste production and increase energy and resource efficiency. Training in environmental management is delivered through:

  Accredited training course
  Workshops
  Seminars
  Website resources and CD-ROM Toolkit
  Telephone and email helpline
  The Business Review newsletter

The scheme has won the support of environmental specialists from local authorities, Defra, the Environment Agency, East of England Development Agency, British Standards Institution (BSi) and major businesses.

The project was launched in 1998 and currently operates in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire.

The scheme was awarded a Green Apple for Environmental Best Practice in 2003 in recognition of its work with businesses to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
