Greener Futures for Local Authorities
Database
The Greener Futures database is built using MySQL version
4.01.
The database holds registration details of the teachers who
take part and, as a security feature, teachers can only register
if they enter a valid DfES number for their school. These
details can only be accessed by the teacher with a password
that they supply on registering. Once registered, the teacher
can add pupils to their list. In order to prevent pupils accessing
each other's details, the teacher assigns each pupil a unique
password.
The database also hold all of the information entered through
the online questionnaires. It is important to note that all
of the answers submitted by a pupil can only be accessed by
that pupil or their teacher. The pupil and teachers can also
access their whole class data or their whole school data by
using the analysis section of the website. The analysis section
pulls data from the database and creates graphs and charts,
depending on the ID of the teacher or pupil logged into the
site.
All of the information entered through the online questionnaire
is stored in a central database. The database can then be
interrogated in three different ways
